Vishan's Henna

Simple yet elegant-Vishan's henna

Last month one more name was added to my henna journey.Vishan. I was recommended to her by my Bollywood dance student, Mahesh. Thank you Mahesh.(Hope to see u in the class soon.) That's how I met Vishan.

She wanted to do henna for her engagement ceremony. From the first moment she met me, she was telling me only one thing that She wants simple yet elegant henna on her hand, and a big no to full-hand or grand designs.(most of the girls says same.) All she wanted was a north Indian style henna but yes, in elegant way.

But what made me little worried was that her view for elegant also was different. My worries weren't for any designs or style but I wanted to give exactly or somewhere near to that to her. See, I am a henna artist and it's my job but frankly speaking for me it's more than a job.Whenever I meet Brides to be, I always try to understand exactly what and how they want. I definitely definitely don't like their big day ends up with regret. For Vishan's case, I talked to her for long time about designs and etc. Not sure why but until final henna day I was thinking whether I would be able to satisfy her or how. Even though i had tried her design on my hand the night before.

And on the final day morning she came to my place with her Sis, Dasha-a very interesting girl. And we started...

So how's the henna..? Write to me. But before that few more things to say about this henna design.

In this design alignment is very important and difficult too. But it turned out well.

One more thing, usually when we want to continue palm design to one finger only we choose either first or second(middle) finger. Why? I don't know but that's how we do. You can see in the picture below , I did design to third(ring) finger. Full credit goes to Vishan as it was her idea. In fact I wasn't convinced fully that it will look nice. She Insisted that she wants to highlight only that finger, and for that she didn't let me do anything in rest of the fingers. So thanks Vishan for being adventurous and trying new idea ;-)

Art of creativity and for that you really need freedom, nice atmosphere and that's what she,her family and friends provided me.It was my first mainland bridal henna order and it went smoothly. It' been more than a year but still I can recall all memories , time I've passed there, almost whole day. Met her friend like Manju and her cousin Darshini, a very sweet girl and now a good friend of mine (not sure i told her or not but she actually resemble to my dearest cousin in India.) Hope they read this and remember me as I always do. Ok now you're free to check Henna images and write your opinion. Enjoy.

Information about Henna

Hello Girls, How are you all? Hope in best of health and spirit.. Well..First of all a sincere apology for the late posting and hope to make up with this post.

Actually last time when I promised to give you all info about Henna , I really didn't expect that this is gonna be a tough job. As it's easy to tell some one, but really hard to write it in words. Anyway I've tried and hopefully it will work for you. I think this post can be very useful for all 'bride to be' as I've tried to cover all queries and to solve confusions. In this post you will get to know some facts about henna plus answers of some very common Questions. I've tried to keep the info in simple words , basic and it totally depends on my experience. Read it, enjoy it and if you have any question, question it lah...!!

1. How will the color be?
Ans - Most common question. and a very simple answer. It mostly depends on your skin and body chemistry/ temperature, the quality of henna should be good, too but according to me your body temprature plays the very important part.. As a henna artist I've come across this situation many times that by using the same henna tube/ cone for two diffrent brides, I've got different result. Yes, It's true.

Now this is the hard thing to explain to some brides or should i say to bride's mum and aunties and cousins..!!! Ya,it's funny but true that sometimes these people are more worried and have so many questions than the bride herself. Anyway, so sometimes they think the colour matter all depends on henna..No..If any one's saying that it's not true, making you fool by saying that only with this henna you'll get very dark colour, unless they know your body temperature or the material used is not henna.

2. Then how to get dark color?
Ans - Well, I definitely won't be able to do anything with your skin and body chemistry, but sure can take some precautions like I always ask bride to heat her hand (until how much she can bear) before applying henna, to increase your temperature artificially. Don't apply anything after that. No lotion, no cream. In short when you apply henna, your hand should be totally clean. These are the steps you have to take before applying henna.

After applying henna some people says you have to keep it for 4 hours or more than that.I don't deny if you want to keep it for longer time, go ahead girls, it's for your big day. But I don't believe it much and based on my experience I think once you apply henna and it dries on your hand you can remove it. According to me the most important time starts after you remove henna. As once henna is dry means it has left color on you skin and now all depends on your body temperature. So now you just need to be careful that you don't interrupt between this process and to do so PLEASE TRY TO AVOID CONTACT WITH WATER. SPECIALLY NO TO ANY SOAP OR SHAMPOO OR LOTION OR CHEMICAL THINGS. It is best to avoid these things for at least first 24 hours as the process of getting color will continue until 2-3 days.AVOID RUBBING ANYTHING WITH YOUR SKIN. It will fade the designs.
This steps will sure help and make a difference.I will tell you how this works, with the help of pictures below.

I've posted the pics with date and time format so you your self can get the idea how the whole process works.

I took this henna picture after half an hour of applying and you can see henna is still wet means I applied around 5pm. In the photo it shows 5:30, Means in 30 minutes henna almost dried, except the top part of finger. After it dried completely, I removed it.

I tried to capture picture after removing henna but it was very light orange colour and very hard to see and so took it after three hours and you can see how much color I gained!

In fact I washed (I won't recommend you to do that)the hand too..what to do..I’m very hard working girl. Really..How can i hold TV remote with the hand full of henna? Kidding..

Means if you avoid water, sure can get darker color.

As you've seen in the pics, when you remove your Henna, the colour will be yellowish or orange then slowly colour will be dark and darker as time passes.

Last thing is Henna colour also depends on the area of body where you did it. eg, Usually people get good colour on palm, light on back of palm and may be lighter on wrist. It's natural. No problem. It's neither your nor Henna's fault. It happens with fare people also. So just chill babes..

3. I am dark so how about me getting good colour? Ans- This is again a common question by many costumers. Unfortunately i can't do much about it but ya, i assure you that if you really follow the steps which I explained above, for sure it will make at least difference.

4. How long will it last?

Ans- Again depends on the colour you get and on the area you've applied but normally it last at least for one week.

5. Someone told me to put mixture of lime juice and sugar on henna to make it dark. Is it so? Ans-A big 'no no' from me. If you think practically, you will realise that if you put that mixture, it will make your henna will be faded and because of that your hand(palm) will loose it original white color. It will look yellowish so Henna designs won't look nice.

And in the demo above I haven't use any lime-sugar thing still color is superb..what say?

Okay all the brides to be, Hopefully this post will help you and make your worries little less for your special day. I would love to know your take on the demo showing that without doing any extra effort how to get good colour so keep reading and commenting. Your queries are most welcomed.

I'll try to make next post on this inai blog as soon as possible. Not very sure what i'll post.. A dear friend Subha has requested to post more Bride's henna pictures so it will be my priority.. I feel so excited if I get comment or suggetion and some more if it's from a friend then what more to say then a Thank you. In fact there are many mahendi pictures waiting for me to publish them so keep reading.

After that I wanted to blog about henna treatment for hair also which is again natural and in demand by chinise, malay and indian people here. Yes, chinise also do henna for hair for cooling efect. ok...Let me know which post you would like to read...

Bride's Henna Image

Bride's Henna Image

Well this not the first bride for whom i did henna. Before this also i have done but as i mentioned in my previous post that i don't have that henna pictures. I did this mahendi around one year ago. and It's for a Malay bride.Yes, A Malay girl. You Know,I was thinking We Indians only like to do this Henna thing But nope, Malay people also likes this. Now Malay brides also want Latest design for their wedding or engagement Inai.

One thing is Malay girls mostly want it simple and only on palm as they wear tudong so no point to do until elbow. Ya some of them still want more, for their personal liking. Because after all wedding is a big day for anyone. No matter is Malay or Indian, right?

By the way.. How's the henna ? Well, I would love you opinion..the bride,Azhani(if i am not mistaken) loved it.. A very easy going girl. When she talk to me on the phone she was not sure whether she wanted it simple or little grand and she left it on me. so i did this. hope you all will like it and let me know your take on it.

OK..For my next post I am thinking to post some henna information, facts..Then I'll share with you my experience. Some of the general question which almost every bride asks me. Let see what i can do.

So I'll wait for your comments. Take care. Have a good time!

Thank you Friends!

Well, Usually people starts their blog with 'Hello' or 'welcome' but I started this with Thanks to all My friends. Here is the reason. Two years back when for the first time I applied Mahendi to someone and then she asked me how much she should pay and I was confused...As I did it for fun. Just for fun.And some more I Thought I am not very good in this Drawing things. It makes me recall my school days where I was worst in the drawing class. That's why I'd been avoiding my talent which has been making me so proud now. For making me aware of it i must Thank to My friends, all the Brides for whom i did Henna as you all always encourage and praise me for doing it. And If I am writing to this blog also is because all of you lovely girls, genuine thanks to Nazira, who always wanted this to happen. And Motu,How can i forget my bestest friend.. You're the first person who encouraged me for having a blog and you had to pay for it by preparing it with me until late night for many nights;-)...Thanks for bearing me..Love you..I've never ever thought that I'll do this but i did it !! Thank you all!

As I've said before, I've never thought of taking this as a profession So many times i did Inai for brides, without taking any pictures. So All of you for whom i did henna in starting please forgive me for not publishing your mahendi images as i don't have it!!!
if you have, send it to me lah...Aayyo..;-)

Ok..After this Thanking and forgiving cer
emony, I think i need to give you some good henna tour.. So here we go!

Henna image - After
I am known for the neatness in Henna art. do you agree?

Henna image - Before
Forgive me for the image quality.i took it after doing henna so maybe my hands were tired. Now you know why i put 'After' first and 'Before' second;-)

Whenever i come across a new idea of henna pattern, I do it on my hand. For very simple reason. As you cant go and tell the bride - can i try new design for you? And if you fail, you should be prepared to run from there or ready to be beaten up. I don't like any !!! Jokes apart. So i make it on my hand first. This design is one of them and the hand is one of mine;-) I tried it and it came out so well, then i use this base for many brides. I said 'i use this base' because It's very hard for me to copy exactly. I consider it as my plus point as if you can't copy easily, you'll definitely create. That's what i do. It leads me to create new designs. Sometimes as i mentioned i take base and then mix it with other design. Basically, that's the biggest reason for why I don't like to show people my henna album because even though I've done the design for someone, i wont be able to do it same again for anyone else. But ya, I give them various ideas, choices from simple to grand henna designs. It amazed me that sometimes people trust me to do henna for them without seeing any pictures, just after discussing they agreed and until now I have made their trust worth it. Ok hope you all like it. New design will arrive soon. keep on checking my blog and Henna images.

If you have any query regarding to henna, feel free to ask. There is a Henna query form on the right side.

Your comments, opinion means a lot to me so please don't forget to leave an honest comment.
Thank you.
